I still don’t know how I ended up hearing about the conference but I have to say it was one of the most eye opening and helpful two days since I started my company. It is great to see other companies with the same issues, and people with answers to a lot of the problems and questions we are facing".

The 2010 Software as a Service (SaaS) Survey
Survey Closed - Look for Results in upcoming Newsletters
Dear Colleague:
Welcome to the 2010 edition of our industry leading SaaS survey. Now in its fourth year, this survey is the standard by which SaaS technology providers track and measure key trends, developments and metrics in the industry. This survey is aimed at software developers/publishers who are currently selling SaaS products in the commercial software marketplace. If your company, division, or business unit is not deriving at least 80% of its revenue from sales of SaaS systems and services, please do not take this survey.
This is a big survey: based on your answers, you will fill out approximately 75 to 90 questions, but we've made them as simple and easy-to-follow as possible. We estimate that this survey will take from 20 to 30 minutes to complete. Please note that many questions require you to provide an answer in order to proceed through the survey; you will not be able to simply fill out a few questions at the beginning of the survey, then fill out the address information at the end to receive the results. You will need to finish the survey. (You can begin the survey, then for up to 21 days finish it later or revise your answers if you wish.)
Everyone who supplies data for this survey will receive a complimentary copy of the summary results in upcoming issues of Softletter. Of course, all responses will be strictly confidential. We won't disclose or identify data about any individuals or about participating companies. Rick Chapman, Softletter's publisher and managing editor, will be presenting detailed analyses of the results in his presentations at SaaS University: Marketing, Sales, Infrastructure and Finance Conferences in 2010. More info at www.softletter.com.
Please be sure to provide a valid E-mail address when completing the survey as the summary results will be sent by E-mail via an electronic version of Softletter.
You may want to pass along information about the Softletter 2010 SaaS Survey to a colleague in the industry who you feel should participate.
This survey closes January 31st.
Many thanks for your help!

Presented on October 29th, 2009
Presenter(s): Softletter Managing editor Rick Chapman
Over the last several months as Cloud hype has reached unprecedented heights, many companies and conferences have begun to confuse SaaS and the Cloud. The result is growing confusion as potental SaaS customers begin to wonder what the "Cloud" is, the nature of its relationship with SaaS, and whether a SaaS product must be "Cloudy." And a confused customer is a non buying customer!
This session examined current trends in SaaS infrastructure, analyze the relationship between the Cloud, Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and SaaS. Effective ways to discuss the Cloud and SaaS so as to not confuse customers and freeze wallets were discussed and analyzed. Selected highlights from Softletter's 2009 SaaS Report helped attendees understand current Cloud and platform trends and optimize their sales and marketing operations so as to preserve sales growth and avoid market uncertainty. Best (and worst) examples of how to use interest in the Cloud to help drive sales were examined and dissected for their potential impact on your business.
If you want to understand how to use the Cloud to drive sales and not get rained on, this session is a must view.
